Auto Repair & Safety Inspections in Guelph

Most of what rolls into a Guelph shop is predictable: a safety certificate because a car just changed hands, a brake job that got put off one winter too long, a check-engine light nobody wants to guess at, and a pile of seasonal tire swaps every April and November. What isn't predictable is whether you'll get a straight answer about what actually needs doing. That's the whole pitch here: a licensed mechanic looks at the car, writes down what's wrong in order of importance, quotes it, and fixes what you approve. Nothing else.

Safety certificates when a car changes hands. Guelph is a university town with a lot of private used-car sales, and every one of them needs an Ontario Safety Standards Certificate before plates go on. The inspection covers brakes, tires, steering, suspension, lights, glass, exhaust and body condition against the provincial standard. Most cars either pass clean or fail on one or two items — usually brakes or tires — and we quote the fix so you can decide whether to repair and re-inspect or walk away from the deal.

Yellow-sticker inspections for working trucks and trailers. Anything over 4,500 kg registered gross weight — landscaper trucks, dump trailers, cube vans, tow trucks — needs an annual commercial inspection. A lot of Guelph shops don't do them. We do, including fleet accounts for trades who'd rather book six trucks with one call than chase six appointments.

Brakes, tires and the salt. Guelph winters and road salt are hard on brake hardware and rotors. The classic call is a grinding noise or a pulsing pedal in March. We measure pad and rotor thickness, check for seized calipers and slide pins, and quote by the axle. Seasonal tire changeovers, balancing and repairs run alongside it — including tire sales if yours are done.

Check-engine lights and electrical gremlins. A code reader tells you a number. A diagnosis tells you what to fix. We do full electrical and engine diagnostics — sensors, wiring, charging system, starters, intermittent faults — and give you a prioritized list: what's urgent, what can wait, and what's cosmetic.

How we work. Every job starts with an inspection and a written estimate. If we find something else while we're in there, we call before touching it. You get the old parts back if you want them. Service hours are Monday to Friday, 8 to 5, and most routine work is same-day or next-day.
